The Bolshevik Guardian

Before this guardian get’s into this, he has a question for you. What year is it? The calendar keeps saying it is 2012, but I know that must be some kind of trick. Because it sure feels like we are back in the 1950’s. Ah, the good old days, when being able to openly run as a gay bashing, racist, anti-woman narrow minded asshole wasn’t just accepted, it was required. When people didn’t have to hide being afraid of things different than then themselves through vague political dialogue, and could just say horribly offensive things and get huge amounts of applause in return. And just like McCarthy, Santorum seems to be able to say things that are not based in the liberal leaning world of “reality” or backed up by “facts”. He can just say what he wants to be the truth, and it is magically accepted. Be it lies about the dutch health care system, made up facts about the LGBT community or offensive remarks towards minorities, he seems to be able to get away with anything. And why is this? Because the modern Republican party feels the exact same way! You don’t have to fact check when the people who are listening think you know what you are talking about, and get angry when anybody tries to bring up a counter point. This creates an ouroboros of ignorance with the head feeding the body what they secretly want to hear, and the body caries the mouth further along in his bigoted quest. But wait, my calendar still hasn’t changed, which means we must be 60 years past the 1950’s. We have advanced as a society and as moral human beings right? Or have we simply regressed back to the bigotry that we fought so hard to remove? It really is hard for this guardian to tell sometimes.
